…60,000 volunteer helpers are involved in 970 Food banks in Germany. We help the food banks, together with many Lions and Rotarians throughout Germany. Stiftunglife doubles every donation to the food banks from its own proceeds. The food banks help people who live with difficult living conditions: single mothers, the elderly, the sick and people who are new to Germany.
A project of Stiftunglife
In 2007, we financed the first school building in Myanmar, in a rural area near Bagan. The project brought us and our friends a lot of joy. Over the years, the joy and benefits for children and teachers have resulted in 83 schools and kindergartens. Most of them are still in use today. It costs around 30,000 euros to build a school. That's a lot of money and we do our best to maintain the buildings even in difficult times - always together with the villagers. Each school is visited once a year (as far as possible) and reported on. Due to the difficult conditions in the country, we are currently only building a few new schools.

Our school and kindergarten projects in Myanmar
Since 2007, we have built numerous schools and kindergartens in Myanmar. Most of the facilities are in and around Bagan, Pakkoku and in the Delta, some also on Ngapali Beach. Most of the schools have new toilets, water filters and various tree plantations. To ensure maintenance and upkeep, our staff Ko Naing and Ko Min Min visit each school once or twice a year. We talk to the people and see what needs to be done. Every visit is documented and every donor receives a report. We are happy to send current school reports on request.
2021 📚 Beeds School and Busch Kindergarten ~ 40,000 euros
In 2021, the Busch Kindergarten and Beeds School were built in the river delta area, both are in good condition and well attended.
2020 📚 René + Frank & Anette School + Leopold School + Together School + Jamaste School ~ 130,000 euros
The René Kindergarten is located on the school grounds of the Amelie School in the greater Bagan area and was completed in just under 30 days. The whole area is in good condition and the kindergarten is attended by almost 40 children. Frank & Annette, Leopold and Together School were built in the delta area. The Jamaste School is located near Ngapali Beach.
2019 📚 Babette + HahnAir 1+ HahnAir 2 + Lilou + Volker + Markehnen School + Kindergarten + Robert & Marco + ALR + Mangotree + Saffer School ~ 290,000 Euro
A total of 11 schools were financed and built thanks to donations to the foundation. Seven in the greater Bagan area, four in the delta. The Markehnen School is located on the same site as the Christian School, which was built in 2011. The Lilou School was built on the site of the Anna & Wolf School. Mango trees were planted there to match the name of the Mangotree School. The Saffer School is beautifully situated near Ngapali Beach.
2018 📚 Petra and José + Anna-Lena + Blumlage + Carina + Join + Nina + Nivea 1 + Nivea 2 + Nivea 3 + Kathmann + Rotary + Egbert Schule ~ 290.000 Euro
Thanks to many donations, we were able to build twelve schools, four in the greater Bagan area, four in the delta region and two in Pakokku. All school buildings were either renovated and refurbished or completely rebuilt. Most of the schools are still in very good condition, as the villagers usually take care of the maintenance of the buildings. These schools are well attended in both rural and urban areas.
2017 📚 Acronis + Bullerbü + Ella + Christine 2 + Klaus + Gorch-Fock + Sabine & Peter + osb Hamburg + Seeds School ~ 250.000 Euro
Nine other schools, eight in the greater Bagan and Pakokku area and the Seeds School not far from Yangon on the way to the Delta. The Sabine & Peter School was made possible because the couple decided to forego wedding presents. The Tico School is an old building renovation, the old building was demolished down to the foundations and rebuilt. With the Bullerbü School, the donor wanted to do something good with a happy look back at his own childhood.
2016 📚 Amelie + JEP School + Tico + Andrea School ~ 120,000 Euro
We were able to have four more schools built. Three in the greater Bagan area and one in Pakokku. The large JEP school is the first of the schools financed by the foundation to be built with a steel construction instead of wood. The chalkboards have also been replaced by whiteboards. All four schools are in good condition and have space for many pupils.
2015 📚 Timo + Ucando School ~ 60,000 Euro
In 2015, two more schools were added to the existing 39 schools of Stiftunglife. The Timo School is located in the greater Bagan area and is easy to reach by car or moped. Over the years, more buildings have been added and it has been upgraded to a branch high school. The Ucando School is idyllically situated between rice fields in the delta. It is attended by over 1000 pupils. Both schools are in good condition.
2014 📚 Isabel 1 + Isabel 2 + Markus + Nicola School ~ 114.000 Euro
Thanks to generous donations, schools have been built in the greater Bagan area and in the Pakokku district. All the schools are in good condition and are attended by the pupils, even in difficult times when the political conflicts have had a negative impact on the pupils and teachers.
2013 📚 Christoph + Lufix + Evelyn + Martin & Manuel 1 und 2 Christine + Klara School ~ 210.000 Euro
Seven more schools, three in the greater Bagan area, two in Pakokku and two in the delta. The school building of the Evelyn School was specially built on a hill, as the previous school was regularly flooded during the rainy season. Apart from minor repairs, most of the schools are in good condition.
2012 📚 Beate + Hagen + Olivia + Jörg + Jan + Thandar + Marja School ~ 210.000 Euro
Once again, several schools were built and opened thanks to generous donations. Three in the greater Bagan area, two in Pakokku and two in the Delta. The Jan School is located in a small village directly on the river, a solid building in which the roof is also made of reinforced concrete and designed in such a way that it is available as a life raft for the entire village population should there be another metre-high flood. All the schools are in good condition.
2011 📚 Udo + Moses + Anna & Wolf + Paul + Christian + Europa 1 + 2 School ~ 210.000 Euro
Three of the schools are located in the greater Bagan area, two in Pakokku and one in the delta region. The two Europa schools were donated by guests of the MS Europa. The school in the Yangon area was built higher because the previous school building was regularly flooded during the rainy season. All schools are in good condition.
2010 📚 Curtius + Jochen + Jubel + Anna School ~ 105,000 Euro
In 2010, the foundation was able to build and open a total of four schools, all four in the greater Bagan area, with a total capacity for around 1,250 pupils. The Jubel School was donated by friends and business partners to mark the 20th anniversary of the Gessner and Raap company. All schools are running and are well attended.
2009 📚 Heidi + Martina + Robert Bosch + Susanne + Helen + Felix School ~ 150.000 Euro
In 2009, a further six schools - financed by donors - were built by Stiftunglife. Five in the greater Bagan area and one, the Felix School, in the delta. Heidi and Martina are located near Mt Popa and have space for around 700 pupils. The schools are in good condition.
2008 📚 Min Min + Ingeborg School + Kindergarten + Jürgen + Ilse + Oksana School - 160,000 Euro
In 2008, five schools were financed and built by Stiftunglife, all located in the greater Bagan area. The Min Min school is a renovation of an old building. This is fitting as the founders of the foundation earn their money in Germany by renovating old buildings. The land on which the Jürgen School stands was donated by the monk who is very active in the village community. The schools are in good condition because the villagers take care of them.
2007 📚 Sven School ~ 35.000 Euro
We built our first school on a large school site in Bagan. A large building with 7 classrooms and 6 toilets. At peak times, 460 pupils are taught here. The school is in good condition, the school board and the education authority have renovated the building several times.
2000-2006 📚 Marian + Elisabeth + Wusi School ~ 60.000 Euro
These three schools were built by the Myanmar Foundation and we took them over in January 2014. All three schools are located in the greater Bagan area, the Marian School is a small school and was extensively renovated in 2020. The schools are still in relatively good condition and are well attended.
Uniteam and Stiftunglife…
...support the children's home on Yangon's city beach. We have been supporting the Uniteam children's home on the outskirts of Yangon since 2014. A Burmese team looks after 120 girls and boys on site. The youngest is three, the oldest are 18 years old. The children come from the embattled areas, many have lost their father or mother. They are cared for and supported in the children's home. All the children go to school and are accompanied into working life after they finish school. More than 50 sponsors in Germany support our commitment.

Myanmar and Ukraine
Two beautiful countries in difficult times. The old are trying to come to terms, the young are trying to leave the country. We adapt to the opportunities and support young people who stay and study. Each student receives 100 euros a month and contact with a German mentor with a relevant professional background. Mentors and students are in contact by e-mail, and personal meetings are also possible.
Information for Myanmar is available from britta@stiftunglife.de

Frequently asked questions and answers about this project can be found here
WHAT is our goal?
Giving young people a chance in life.
WHAT do we do?
We support students in Myanmar and Ukraine. Young people who are unable to finance their own studies due to war and other grievances.
HOW do we provide support?
Each student receives 100 euros a month. Most of the money comes from mentors, who donate 1,200 euros a year for ‘their student’.
HOW does the money get there?
Money transfers to Myanmar are difficult. We transfer money twice a year to a trusted person in Singapore, from where the money is sent to the students in local currency. We pay the money for the students in Ukraine quarterly in cash on site in Vinnitsya.
WHO looks after the students?
In Myanmar, Khin has been looking after our students for many years. In Ukraine, Irina looks after our students. Andreas and Jürgen treffen die Studenten vor Ort, wenn sie in die Ukraine fahren.
WHO takes care of the mentors?
Most of the mentors live in Germany. Britta and Dorothea keep in touch with the mentors who are sponsoring a Burmese student - Annette mentors the Ukrainian students.
WHAT does a mentor do?
Mentors usually have a professional background that corresponds to the student's field of study. The mentors donate 1,200 euros per year. In return, they receive a donation receipt and contact with the student by email. Some students and mentors also get to know each other personally. Ideally, the mentors are role models, giving love and recognition - even if this is sometimes difficult at a distance.
Artemed and Stiftunglife…
...are committed to the people in the delta. It all started 15 years ago with a converted rice freighter. Today, the River Doctors and the Swimming Doctors bring medical and dental expertise to the delta of Myanmar. Two new ships for a region where there is almost no medical care. Burmese doctors, dentists and nurses look after patients young and old. The ships are well equipped with diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. There is also a pharmacy on board. Around 30,000 patients are treated every year. The care of pregnant women and children is of great importance. Everyone pays a small fee. The poor, children and monks are treated free of charge. Here you can find a short video.

A project of Stiftunglife
We can't prevent attacks on hospitals - but we can bring new medicines to Ukraine. We have been travelling regularly since July 2022, bringing medicines for wounded children, soldiers and aid workers. Deliveries are made to order: we ask the doctors what is urgently needed before the journey. We then buy the medicines from a hospital pharmacy and deliver them directly to the emergency hospital in Vinnitsya in our own vehicles. We are seeing more and more people with amputations around the hospital and in the town. Many of them suffer from phantom pain. A drug from Germany can provide significant relief. It costs 100 euros per patient. We have a hundred packs with us every time.

Stiftunglife doubles all donations...
...for the food banks. Everyone knows the food banks. Hardly anyone knows about the 60,000 volunteers who work for the food banks in their spare time. They collect leftover food and distribute it to people in need. We support this commitment with direct payments. The food banks can really use our help. They look after people who have to count on every cent: the poverty rate of single parents (women) has risen to 42% and one in five children in Germany is affected by poverty. Every day we transfer €1000 to a food bank in Germany. Every donation we receive for this project is doubled from our own earnings. To ensure that the money arrives safely, we co-operate with Lions and Rotary Clubs that are committed to their local food banks.
